In 1995 Julie and Frank purchased 120 acres in and above the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. We quickly learned if we wanted to plant grapes, we had to do it right away. An anti-hillside planting law was being put into place. We quickly found the perfect Vineyard Manager, Jim Barbour. We were permitted in 1996 and planted in 1997. Our three Cabernet hillside vineyards slope over 40 degrees, going up from the Valley floor to 900 feet. We are lucky to have these beautiful, rocky, steep vineyards, totaling 9 acres. Our first mature crop was in 2001. This fabulous wine was released in 2004. We added a Sonoma Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Rose of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to the Husic portfolio. Palm Terrace Cabernet Sauvignon is also a family member, a second Cabernet produced from our three estate vineyards. Along with Julie and Frank, sons FJ and Paris, age 15 and 13 comprise of Husic Vineyards. The boys are well rehearsed in the picking of the grapes, crush, getting wine from the barrels (thieving), the bottling process and helping to entertain our clients. They are our future, and we hope to hand the business to them one day. We are proud to share these beautiful wines with you.

Husic Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
Our 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is the product of a near perfect growing season combined with hands-on viticulture and consummate winemaking. Extended hang time through the end of September meant the grapes were picked at optimal maturity, resulting in a deep ruby red color and extracted fruit flavors. The nose is filled with big, rich aromas of fresh black raspberries, cinnamon and anise layered with hints of warm vanilla and sweet toasty oak. The silky, almost downy, texture at entry explodes with ripe berry and vanilla, leading to bright red currant, raspberry and pomegranate flavors. Velvet tannins balance complex fruits and subdued anise character through a long, supple finish. This wine is lush and mouth filling now, but its broad, well-defined structure indicates it will age beautifully for many years to come.
