Simi Winery

Simi Winery A lot of what we do at Simi is based on tradition, enhanced with cutting-edge innovation. Our philosophy has always been to maintain the quality and style that we're recognized for, while at the same time improve our methods for growing grapes and crafting wines to reflect the experience and knowledge we are accumulating and have been throughout the winery's 125-year history. Long ago we also realized the importance of Alexander Valley and knew that it would be a leading appellation for growing Bordeaux varietals. Today we showcase the region with our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as our vineyard-designated Landslide Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1989 we purchased our Russian River Valley Goldfields Vineyard and planted it to hand-selected original cuttings from some of the best and oldest vineyards in California. This innovative technique gives us the amazing diversity of flavors that has made Simi's Russian River Reserve Chardonnay famous. With every taste of Simi wines you'll discover our devotion to tradition that is enhanced by our pursuit of the best vineyards, the best grape-growing methods, and the best winemaking techniques.

  Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Alexander Valley was shaped by dramatic geologic activity—from an ancient landslide that changed the course of the Russian River, to earthquake upheavals that redistributed whole sections of land. The incredible diversity of soil types and microclimates produces wines with the velvety textures and bright, luscious flavors. Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the best of Alexander Valley’s bright fruit characters and elegance that made this world-class growing region famous.
Alexander Valley Landslide Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Along with the complexity created by the different soil types and topography, we have planted a diverse selection of varieties and clones. Besides the nine different clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, we have planted Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Malbec, the "big five" classic varieties from Bordeaux.
  Alexander Valley Merlot
Sonoma County’s cool mornings and warm afternoons combined with unique characteristics of soil, slope and sunshine make Simi Winery Merlot elegant and balanced with pleasing hints of clove, cocoa and violets.
  Alexander Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Simi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is created by keeping all of our diverse vineyard blocks separate throughout the winemaking process. This allows the winemaker to select the best vineyard lots for the final blend. The blend is created over a two year period by selecting the best barrels from the most intense lots. The complexity of this wine is created not only from our vineyards sites, but also from blending with other classic Bordeaux varietals.
