  Arneis
Arneis originates from the Piedmonte region of Italy. Our grandfather, Edoardo Seghesio, emigrated from that same region in 1886. This rare grape's literal translation is "little rascal," due to the viticultural challenges it presents in the vineyard. For some time, we had the largest planting of Arneis in the country - all of 26 vines. Today, we have 5,000 vines (five acres) planted on our Keyhole Ranch.
  Barbera
Edoardo Seghesio immigrated to America in 1886 from the Piedmonte region of Italy, home to Barbera. In California, while Barbera has been grown for over a century, it has only recently enjoyed a resurgence in popularity. From the Old World vineyards of Italy to the Estate vineyards in the heart of California's Alexander Valley, Seghesio continues to honor its heritage by SHARING UNCOMMON GROUND to produce a Barbera that maintains a classic acidity, as it becomes a contemporary favorite.
  Cortina Zinfandel
In 1957, our family purchased 56 acres in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. Since the early 1900s, our fathers had purchased fruit from growers in this Valley and recognized the area's great potential for Zinfandel. Here, late afternoon coastal cooling follows long hours of sunshine and enables the fruit to mature slowly during the summer months. Cortina, the dominant soil type of our vineyard, is a gravelly loam that contributes to Dry Creek Valley's reputation as one of the finest places in the world to grow Zinfandel.
  Home Ranch Zinfandel
Our 2004 Home Ranch Zinfandel comes from the Seghesio family's first planting in Alexander Valley. The Home Ranch Zinfandel is one of our most highly acclaimed wines. This big rich Zin exhibits jammy dark-fruit qualities that make it a perfect match for bold spicy foods. Wine Spectator- 2002 Home Ranch Zinfandel 93pts 2003 Home Ranch Zinfandel 92pts
  Keyhole Pinot Noir
IIn 1961, our fathers purchased a keyhole-shaped cattle ranch in, what was then, undeveloped Russian River Valley with the purpose of planting every winemaker's Holy Grail: Pinot Noir. Today, this area is a corridor of some of the finest Pinot Noir producers in America. Our family's effort toward sharing uncommon ground enables us to share this unique slice of the world.
  Old Vine Zinfandel
Seghesio's Old Vine Zinfandel perfectly embodies our family's goal of Sharing Uncommon Ground. Only our finest lots from the oldest vineyards make it into this composite blend. These vineyards are rare treasures we have farmed over the course of our family's century as grape growers. Although "Old Vine" is often loosely interpreted, our benchmark is fifty years. The average age of the vines producing this wine nears 90 years.
  Omaggio
"Omaggio", Italian for homage, is our tribute to Edoardo and Angela Seghesio who wisely purchased our family's first vineyard in America in 1895. Our first vintage of this rare wine was released from our Centennial harvest in 1995. Inspiration for Omaggio came from our travels to Italy and a desire to honor our grandparents. Omaggio blends years of experience growing grapes in a specific terroir with the most advanced vineyard and winemaking practices.
  Pinot Grigio
Our family has grown grapes in Sonoma County since 1895 and in Russian River Valley since 1961. In 1994, when we began an aggressive move toward producing all estate wines, we instituted an extensive vineyard-replanting program. This planting of Pinot Grigio is part of that plan to grow intriguing varieties in the best and most appropriate sites. Noted for its unusual grayish/pink clusters and shared lineage with Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio is well suited to the cooler climates of the Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley.
  San Lorenzo Zinfandel
Rachel Ann Passalacqua met Eugene "Pete" Seghesio when he came to purchase her father's Zinfandel grapes from the San Lorenzo vineyard in southernmost Alexander Valley. In 1956 the couple was married. Seghesio Farms now manages that same vineyard, purchased in 1896 by Rachel Ann's grandfather for the sum of ten gold coins. At that time, the vineyard was already planted to and producing Zinfandel. Today, it represents our oldest plantings of Zinfandel.
  Sangiovese
Refreshingly playful acidity and docile tannins merry wonderfully and melt away, leaving succulent fruit flavors lingering on the palate for a smooth finish. This sublime combination of the bright bouquet and deftly balanced structure make Sangiovese the quintessential food wine. Salute!” -- Ted Seghesio
  Sonoma Zinfandel
With family roots firmly planted in Zinfandel dating to 1895 when Grandpa Edoardo Seghesio first planted Zinfandel on the Home Ranch in Alexander Valley, today's third and fourth generation Seghesios farm over 200 acres of estate Zinfandel in the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Sonoma Zin is a collage of Northern Sonoma's vineyard landscape as it blends sites which have produced Zinfandel for over a century with newer sites that utilize proprietary clones and the most advanced viticultural practices. "Sharing Uncommon Ground" speaks not only of these unique vineyard locations, but also a family's passion to ever improve, to sustain for future generations and to produce a wine that substantiates Sonoma as the world's finest location for zinfandel.
