Jones Family Vineyards

Jones Family Vineyards Jones Family Vineyards are located on a south facing hillside between St. Helena and Calistoga in the Northern Napa Valley. The vineyard's location provides the ideal combination of soil and climate for the development of Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyard manager David Abreu, and winemaker, Heidi Barrett, have worked together to maximize the potential of the location and produce an outstanding wine that will continue to mature and gain complexity over the years. We are not open to the public for tours or tastings.

  Jones Family Cabernet -
Robert Parker The Wine Advocate Rating: 95 "The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the finest offerings I have tasted from Jones Family. An inky/purple color is accompanied by sumptuous aromas of sweet blueberry, blackberry, and cassis fruit, licorice, and toasty background oak. This full-bodied, unctuously-textured 2001 possesses tremendous purity, palate presence, and balance. The finish lasts 40+ seconds. It should drink well young yet age nicely for 10-12+ years."

ones Family Cabernet - 2000 Winemaker Notes - "The 2000 Cabernet is a big, fully ripe, dark wine made from the Jones Estate Vineyards in the eastern Napa Valley hills between Saint Helena and Calistoga. The nose has such purity of fruit that is difficult to attain. Deep cassis, black cherry and ripe berry dominate the aromas which lead to a similar flavor profile. The wine is very round and lush in the mouth with just slightly dusty tannins. Even though very young at this tasting, the wine is so approachable, drinkable and enjoyable right now. It has silky softness in the mouth and yet has powerful flavors at the same time. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it."

Winemaker Notes - "The 1999 vintage produced some awesome wines. It is one of the best years from the incredible decade of the 1990's. This wine is no exception. Deep, dark ruby red in color with beautiful aromas of concentrated black cherry and berry. It has hints of rose petal and sweet toasty french oak in the nose as well. In the mouth it is huge - tons of ripe lush fruit, great density and big mouthfeel. Tannins are restrained and elegant. Flavors are persistent lasting several minutes. This is a big balanced wine that will go well with a hearty meal. "
  Jones Family Cabernet -
A big wine from a high extraction vintage. The aromas are incredibly open and inviting. Super concentrated black cherry and berry fruit with cedar and sage notes. Volcanic soil shows through with big broad intense spiciness and warmth. Silky in the mouth with light dusty tannins throughout. Oak is used here as an accent lending some toasty, vanilla flavors as well. A rich and complex wine from a blockbuster vintage.
  The Sisters Bordeaux Style Blend
Stephanie and Heather worked together to develop our extremely small production Bordeaux style wine. The 2001 The Sisters is a blend of 91.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.5% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet fruit came from our youngest 3 acre vineyard, and that fruit will be blended into our Cabernet Sauvignon in future vintages. We were extremely pleased with the interest in our 2000 The Sisters and are happy to have 206 cases to sell of the 2001! If you missed The Sisters before the 2000 sold out we hope you act quickly when your mailer arrives to enjoy the 2001.
  The Sisters Bordeaux Style Blend
Less dense than the estate wine but loaded with complex flavors and aromas. Black cherry, licorice, cherry cola, chocolate and ripe plum with some sweet caramel oak notes. A vibrant wine in the mouth, quite chewy and textural. Additional cabernet franc used in the blend comes through in this wine in the initial impression and mid palate flavors. Good length and overall balance lead one to believe this wine can age
