Saxon Brown Wines

As most of you know I love "bottle age" and make my wines with that in mind. As a wine drinker, I always wished more wineries would hold back some of their wines, giving them time in the cellar before making them available as Library Selections. So when I started Saxon Brown I made it one of my goals, from time to time, to offer wines with some cellaring time behind them. We are currently offering two Library selection wines: 1999 Fighting Brothers Zinfandel (Jason & Tyler!) and our 1997 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

Semillon, Casa Santinamaria
For many years I have wanted to make a wine in this style, a wine that is refreshing and fun that would be great with seafood on a warm day. This wine has a wonderful fig, floral and tropical character with a great “alive” finish. NO OAK .

Semillon, Casa Santinamaria
For many years I have wanted to make a wine in this style, a wine that is lively and refreshing with good food affinity. Our 2005 Semillon fits the bill and then some. In addition to vibrant white peach, citrus blossom and fig flavors, the wine offers a rich, slightly yeasty mouthfeel and a lingering creamy finish.

Syrah Rosé, Flora Ranch Vineyard
As with the first fresh strawberries of the summer, opening a bottle of our Flora Ranch Dry Rosé is a sensory delight. Vibrant flavors of juicy strawberry, stone fruit, white flower and orange zest abound in the lively mouthfeel and persist through the lingering bright finish.

Syrah, Parmelee-Hill
The first thing you notice is the density of color and the vivid aromatics. Violets, concentrated black cherry, mocha, cigar tobacco, brown spice, blackberry and refined oak converge in varying degrees. The palate is very rich and well structured, leading to a long, lush finish.

Zinfandel, Casa Santinamaria
Our 2002 Casa Santinamaria Zinfandel has an intense raspberry and dried cranberry signature that seems to run from year to year, along with black cherry/berry, dark chocolate and sweet elegant oak tones. On the mouth this wine has great structure and a melange of dried raspberry, mocha and chocolate dust reminiscent of a decadent raspberry chocolate torte. This is a very rich and long wine.

Zinfandel, Parmelee-Hill "Stonewall Block"
Our Parmelee-Hill Stonewall Block Zinfandel has an opulent nose of ripe plum, black cherry, allspice, milk chocolate and cedar and eucalyptus. The mouth is full and complex with textured layers of dark fruit leading to a long, sweet-oak finish.
