In the early and mid 19th Century distilling was a craft, usually practiced locally, on a small scale by todays standards, and minimally regulated. Here in New Haven, area farmers would stop at Vossbrink’s Distillery and have their jug filled when they came into town for supplies. A spirit's age was often the time it took to travel from where it was produced to where it was consumed…sometimes only a matter of hours. Aged whiskey was not unknown, but it was more expensive and not as easily available as locally produced whiskey. While secret recipes abound, Pinckney Bend American Corn Whiskey is an excellent example what was produced by skilled distillers, and sold by reputable merchants and traders, and consumed by working people. All gin is not created equal. We produce and bottle Pinckney Bend Gin in 50 gallon batches. This approach makes it possible use processing techniques that are not practical on an industrial scale, resulting in a unique flavor profile. Pinckney Bend Gin is distilled from American Grain. The nine botanicals include juniper berries, coriander seeds, orris root, angelica, licorice, and three different kinds of dried citrus. All botanicals are certified organic and American-sourced. Botanicals are distilled individually and then blended in batches. Some are macerated and distilled, while others are suspended in the vapor column.

Vodka is often described as a neutral spirit. Character, flavor, purity and texture begin where neutrality ends. Pinckney Bend vodka is hand crafted in small batches from a blend of American wheat, malted barley and rye. Grains are distilled separately; wheat in a column still, barley and rye in a pot still. The result is a spirit of both high purity and unique character. Pinckney Bend vodka has a luscious mouth-feel, and is exceedingly smooth on the palate. It is excellent on its own, but it also works well with others as a cocktail ingredient.
