Misty Oaks Vineyard

At Misty Oaks, about 30% of the harvest is used to make wine for sale at the vineyard (tasting room open June 2007), through distribution and on this website, with the rest sold to area wineries. Currently, Misty Oaks wine is made via a Custom Crush in the nearby town of Elkton. The onsite winery is now under construction and first crush is targeted for 2009. Six varietals are grown at the site on the areas deemed best for the type — the wines made from Misty Oaks grapes are named for these growing areas within the vineyard. Each of these areas gained some notoriety among the owners, workers or friends because of a physical attribute or incident associated with its development; and it seemed appropriate to give the wines produced from these areas a name that was reflective of this. To that end the current offering of wines crafted from the vineyard are: Gobbler's Knob Red Wine Blend, Constitution Ridge Pinot Blanc, Jones Road Cabernet Franc and Stuckagain Heights Pinot Noir. The 2006 harvest will allow the making of Julio's Hill Pinot Gris and Viper Trail Malbec.
