Folie à Deux Winery

Folie à Deux Winery Folie à Deux is the French term meaning "shared fantasies". The winery was conceived by two close friends who turned their passion for wine and mutual dream of owning a winery into reality in 1981. The distinctive twin dancers logo so closely associated with the winery was designed by a local artist to evoke the notion of a delightful shared experience. Sharing the joy of wine is something which the many visitors and fans of Folie à Deux wines have come to appreciate deeply. Over the years, the Folie à Deux portfolio of elite, small-production Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Amador County Zinfandel has earned accolades and awards too numerous to mention and appear on the wine lists of America's finest restaurants. The popular red and white blends called Menage à Trois are delicious, approachable, affordable wines suitable with any meal. In 1995, the winery was sold to a group of wine enthusiasts. In June 2004, Folie à Deux was purchased by Trinchero Family Estates, the Napa Valley wine company owned and operated by the Trinchero family. The family has made wine in Napa Valley for over 50 years and has deep roots in the winemaking community. They had long been searching for an estate to further their goal of producing the finest wines Napa Valley has to offer. Their search ended when they discovered Folie à Deux. The winery is nestled amongst 13 acres of estate vineyards planted to Cabernet Sauvignon just north of St. Helena on Highway 29 in the heart of Napa Valley. The Tasting Room and offices are situated in a century-old farmhouse originally owned by a Spanish prizefighter who retired to raise sheep and make wine. The stone shed he used for storing wine is still used today.

Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve, Napa Valley
Our 2002 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has powerful aromas of black currants, vanilla, black cherry, eucalyptus, leather and chocolate. The flavors are intense, yet elegant and balanced. The ripe fruit, lush texture and soft tannins make it the ideal accompaniment to beef, lamb, game and turkey.
  Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
This wine is a powerful, fruit forward Cabernet, full of blackberry and black cherry. Additional characteristics of chocolate, mint and leather are expressed on the palate with nicely integrated tannins on the finish.
  Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Warm and full in the mouth with a long finish it is a quintessential Napa Cabernet.
  Chardonnay, Napa Valley
Beyond the pure, nutty, spicy bouquet and round, creamy texture, our Chardonnay delivers great balance and authority with aromas of juicy red apple, a dash of pineapple and banana.
  Ménage à Trois Red
Even if red wine is not your speed, give our Ménage à Trois Red a try. This wine exposes the fresh, ripe, jam-like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Three saucy grapes make up the blend. Zinfandel adds a juicy character, Merlot mellows and Cabernet adds backbone. Forward, spicy and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect trio.
  Ménage à Trois Rosé
Good rosé is like a carnival in your mouth—and not one of your low rent carnivals. We’re talking about your really classy, country faire kind of carnival. Our Ménage à Trois Rosé is the epitome of a good rosè. No pretension, no pretense, just a fruit-laden roller coaster ride of raspberries, strawberries, lychee nuts and flowers.
  Ménage à Trois White
Three different grapes add up beautifully in our Ménage à Trois White. Chardonnay lends its firm, rich character, while Muscat shows up wild and exotic, and Chenin Blanc plays a soft supporting role. Together they produce one show-stopping wine.
  Merlot, Napa Valley
The aromas of this deep ruby red, full bodied Merlot is redolent of cherry, spice and black cedar. The aromas follow through to the palate accompanied by medium plus acidity and nuances of mineral and earth.
  Sangiovese, Amador County
It is truly Italian in character with a firm structure, spicy, woody aromas, with hazelnut and blackberry flavors and a long, lingering finish.
  Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley
This is pure, unadulterated, full-bodied Sauvignon Blanc. The nose is a mélange of lime blossom, dried herbs, lemongrass, melon and tangerine. The palate is firm, but surprisingly rich and long.
  Syrah, Amador County
Flavors of vanilla and blueberry predominate, followed by cigar box cedar and earthy tones. The perfect lamb pairing and any rich, red meat!
  Zinfandel, Amador County
This hand crafted Zin showcases rich, ripe blackberries and plums infused with clove, vanilla, and anise spice. A powerful, yet balanced mouthfeel gives way to a silky smooth finish of spicy oak and juicy black cherry.
  Zinfandel, Amador County
Here is a fully resolved, old-fashioned Zinfandel that clearly illustrates why Italian farmers first planted this variety back in the mid-1800's throughout Amador County. On one hand it is ripe and juicy. On the other, it is rustic and country. Aromas of cherries, vanilla, cinnamon and sage abound. The palate is soft and generous. All in all, this is everything you'd expect from an Amador County Zin.
