Long Road intends to make beer and other fermented beverages using locally sourced materials from the New York Region. Our region has everything needed to become a source of quality craft beverages. We have a source of fresh water, one of the largest in the world. The ingredients needed to make beer are grown locally, and the farmers producing these products are expanding their operations to meet the growing demand. New York is encouraging an explosion in hop growth, investing heavily in grants and assistance to these farmers. In addition to ingredients, we have the space. The Democrat and Chronicle reported in 2013 that the Rochester area can support up to 30 breweries in the immediate vicinity; far more than our current capacity.
The company will start by focusing its development on three main beers, an American Brown Ale, a full-bodied India Pale Ale, and a Kolsch style lager. Other recipes will be sourced and produced to meet the consumers demand for quality taste from quality products. Each one of our beers will highlight a particular agricultural product from the New York region. Long Road will explore the options to produce hard cider should there be an adequate demand.
