Skyhawk Lane

After years of tasting, studying, and enjoying wines being produced from the wide variety of appellations and wineries. Our passion for fine wine led us to the decision that it was time to create our own wines. Skyhawk Lane's first experimental wine was produced in 2000, at our home located on Skyhawk Lane in Topanga, CA. Our friends encouraged us to enter the wine in the home winemakers competition at the Orange County Fair, we were thrilled that this wine received a Silver Medal! We were hooked!!
We then approached a friend who owned a winery and asked if we could produce some wine at his facility for commercial use. He agreed, and we began to produce two barrels of Chardonnay. Making the wine was a lot of fun, but we did not know if anyone would be interested in purchasing it. We released the wine, and it was completely sold out within 6-8 weeks. Wow! Needless to say, we continued making wine, two barrels became four, then six...
It became obvious that it was time for us to bond our own winery, so we found a location in Paso Robles and started the bonding process, which was completed in time for the 2004 harvest.
We wanted to create some more interesting wines and began the process of creating some blended wines. The first to be released were the Skyhawk Lane 2003 "Three Cane Blend" a traditional Bordeaux blend, and the Skyhawk Lane 2003 "Red Fusion" a blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Once these blends were released, everyone who tasted them was wowed! They sold out immediately!

Monterey Chardonnay
Ripe chardonnay grapes were harvested from the Arroyo Seco Vineyards in Monterey, California. The juice completed primary fermentation in oak barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 10 months. This wine has rich abundant tropical fruit flavors combined with a delicate oak complexity followed by a creamy finish.

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
Ripe cabernet sauvignon grapes were harvested from the Shelby Vineyards in Paso Robles, California. The fruit completed primary fermentation followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged in oak barrels for 12 months. This wine has rich abundant fruit flavors with a hint of black cherry, and a delicate oak complexity followed by a creamy finish.

Red Fusion
36% Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford CA - 32% Syrah & 32% Zinfandel, Paso Robles CA create this unique blend we call "Red Fusion", this wine was also aged in oak for 22 months. All we can say about this wine is "WOW".

Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay
Ripe chardonnay grapes were harvested from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, California. The juice completed primary fermentation in oak barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 11 months. This wine has rich abundant fruit flavors with a hint of melon and pineapple combined with a delicate oak complexity followed by a creamy finish.

Three Cane Blend
69% Cabernet Sauvignon - 22% Cabernet Franc - 9% Merlot create this wonderfully layered and complex wine aged in oak for 22 months. If you enjoy a traditional Bordeaux styled wine this one will delight you, from the wonderful bouquet through the silky finish.
