Six Hands Winery? One might ask, what kind of a name is that for a winery ? Well, it's true what they say, six hands are better than two. Six Hands Winery (SHW) is just that, 3 dedicated individuals bringing you the finest hand crafted small lots of wine. Our philosophy is that of the village wineries of France, producing small lots of wine from local grapes which receive hand care through every step of the winemaking process. We believe that the grapes make the wine and our job is to guide them through the winemaking process with as little intervention as possible. Thus allowing the grapes to express their flavors and tastes to you in every bottle of Six Hands Wine. Our goal is to make available these types of wine at value prices for all to enjoy. SHW is located in Walnut Grove, California. Walnut Grove sits in the Delta area of California along the Sacramento River. The Delta gets its name from the many islands and rivers that feed into San Francisco Bay. Our winery is located on one of these Delta islands called Andrus Island. We enjoy warm days in the summer with very cool Delta winds in the evenings, making this area ideal for certain types of grapes to be grown. Our family has been farming these Delta lands for over 100 years. We have come to understand the nature of this land and how to farm it with as little environmental impact as possible. The SHW staff includes me, Peter Marks, my wife Riche´le, who by the way is the enologist on staff and my father Norman. Norman wears many hats for the winery: from sales, cellar worker, vineyard manager, you name it he's helping. As non-commercial producers we have been making Six Hands wines for over eight vintages . Our efforts have won numerous medals and ribbons in wine competitions throughout the state. I have been making wine since I was twelve with my late maternal grandfather Bill Guerard. I credit my grandfather with providing the spark for encouraging me to pursue winemaking as a passion. In fact, winemaking at the SHW location goes back to my paternal great grandfather who was crushing grapes by hand (or foot) back at the turn of the century.

1996 Cabernet Sauvignon
The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon is a robust full flavor Cab. Aged in French & American oak for over two years the tannins are softened and mild, allowing the fruity flavors of the wine to show. Cherry, spice, hints of vanilla and berries dominate this wine.

Chenin Blanc
Our 1997 Chenin Blanc comes from the same vineyard we have been working with for the past four years. This is a full bodied barrel fermented wine with lovely vanilla, pear and citrus flavors layered with fruit.
