Stemilt Creek Winery
|
|
At the turn of the 20th century, the Mathison family planted their first fruit trees atop their Stemilt Hill homestead, igniting a tradition that has thrived for five generations. Now, world-class fruit growers, Kyle and Jan Mathison apply their wisdom and passion into their role as vintners. Completely personal, the Mathisons are undivided in their attention to every stage of the growing process, touching the life of each grape from the soil to the lips.

Cabernet Franc
Refined dusty cherry fruit is combined with pleasant notes of tobacco and thyme. The wine dances in the mouth a bit due to some acidity but is kept in check (can't have too much fun) by strong tannins.
|
Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep ruby in color, the wine begins with a candied cherry core with notes of cassis. A slight bacon aroma is in the background. On the palate rich chocolate envelops the sweet cherry focal point and there is a detectable nutmeg spice towards the end of the sip. Full-bodied with fine tannins.
|
Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark cherry, plum and clove show both in the nose and on the palate. The body is well underpinned with smooth tannins and a slight acidity that gives it a lift. The fruit just flows around the structure. The wine lingers elegantly on the finish.
|
Merlot
This Washington Merlot is a bit shy at first but once it gets to know you, it starts opening up. The fruit is ripe and forward with plum and cinnamon... fruit compote comes to mind. True to the Merlot varietal the texture is rounded with medium to full body mouthful.

Stemilt Hill Red
This is a non vintage red blend and is being sold by year of release. Wines just like it have been the beverage of choice for many European couples as they take a stroll with picnic in hand. Rustic, fun and great with a crusty loaf of bread.
