Las Flores Winery is located off Highway 65 in Terra Bella, meaning ?land of beauty? in Italian. We are conveniently located 35 minutes North of Bakersfield, and 35 minutes South East of Visalia, on the way to the Sequoia National Forest.
In 2006, the owners Nicholas and Cody Flores, founded Las Flores Winery. After growing up with both his father and grandfather practicing home winemaking, Nicholas had a natural interest. The couple began taking classes at UC Davis, studying viticulture and enology. Embodying three generations of winemaking tradition, Las Flores has evolved from a passionate home winemaking hobby into a boutique winery. With Cody acting as his assistant, Nicholas hand crafted their first varietal offerings in 2007. Made with locally grown grapes, Las Flores focuses on keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum, while supporting the local community.
As a small winery everything is done by hand. The timing of the harvest is crucial to the end product. Just the right amounts of sugar and acids are required to make a great wine. From the harvest, to the crush, punching down, bottling and labeling everything is done by hand with love. We choose specific yeasts for each varietal and ferment in very small batches. This process is very labor intensive; however, we feel it yields a better balanced wine.
We look forward to the future and growing as a winery. Not quite sure where the future will take us, we are enjoying the ride and hope you will join us.
