Crichton Hall Vineyard
|
|
Crichton Hall Vineyard offers award-winning, European-style Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and our own Bordeaux blend called Reflexion. Crichton Hall focuses on small productions of hand crafted fine wines and styles them in the tradition of the Old World, family-run wineries. After two decades, our farming and wine-making techniques produce wines that remain true to their varietal characteristics, promising elegance in the glass to accompany both old and new world cuisine. Crichton Hall, located in the southwestern bench lands of Napa Valley, was established in 1983 as a Chardonnay estate. The original Chardonnay vines planted by the late Gil Nickel of Far Niente, have been replaced by the Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. In the future, we will produce our Reflexion from estate fruit and release an estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon. Our history of garnering some of the industry’s most prestigious accolades continues. Recently, Wine Enthusiast magazine and Connoisseur's Guide to California Wine both awarded 93 points to our 2001 Reflexion. We invite you to enjoy our award-winning wines with your next meal!

2000 Merlot
Fruit from the Truchard and Caldwell Vineyards - cool regions with hillside conditions that stress the vines for smaller berries with intense flavors - gives the 2000 Merlot layered flavors of blackberry, loganberry, and ripe plums with earth elements of tobacco and light smoky oak. The finish lingers with supple tannins and floral nuances. 1,000 cases produced.

2002 Chardonnay
Aromas of pear and apple dominate this Chardonnay with accents of vanilla, amaretto, and toasty caramel. Hints of peach mingle with characteristic mineral notes. Flavors of pear and citrus carry through the palate, which is medium-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture and fresh acidity. This wonderful balance reveals a subtle richness as the wine opens up. 868 cases produced.

2002 Pinot Noir
This wine greets you with intense aromas of black cherry, cinnamon and clove spice mingled with a touch of sassafras and violets. Flavors of cherry preserves, lush sweet fruit, vanilla and cinnamon stick dominate the palate while the wine's rich texture and balanced acidity give way to a long finish. There's no mistaking it for anything other than Pinot Noir. 854 cases produced

Reflexion
Fruit from the cool Carneros Truchard Vineyard and southeastern Napa Valley Caldwell Vineyard offers alluring aromas of dark cherries mixed with non-fruit elements, such as tobacco, leather and cedar. Lush, concentrated flavors of dark fruit, such as ripe plums, dark cherry liqueur, and black currant follow with a lingering finish of supple earthy spice. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from the cool, wet Spring Mountain appellation. It is these soils, some of the oldest soils and steepest slopes in Napa Valley, that contribute to much of Reflexion's rich, powerful structure of deep color, soft fleshy tannins, and rich flavors in the finish. 280 cases produced.

Reflexion
A rich aroma of blackberry and cassis layered with vanilla, tea, herbs de Provence and a touch of cocoa. The palate is dense and full-bodied with a soft entry supported by a firm structure and ample tannins. The flavors are dominated by ripe berry with lingering cassis and tobacco. Twenty months of aging in French Oak barrels, softens the intensity of this amazing and supple wine.
